Jon Q broke his maiden in the fittingly-named Graduation S. Aug. 6 at Assiniboia Downs in Winnipeg, Manitoba, giving his sire Repent his third winner in the past three days. Repent currently ranks sixth on the Florida general sire list with just shy of $1.6 million in progeny earnings and nine stakes horses this year.

Jon Q came from last in the field of nine in the 5 1/2-furlong main track sprint, making up ground around the turn and then down the stretch to prevail by a length and a half.

Bred in Kentucky by Linhaven Farm, Jon Q has hit the board in all three of his starts. He is out of the Relaunch mare Ranba and is a full brother to the stakes winner Prince Cortez.
