Leading sire Repent will stand 2012 at CloverLeaf Farms II where he'll join his best son – newly retired Crown of Thorns – at the Reddick-based stud farm.

A leading freshman sire in Florida in 2007, Repent returns to the Sunshine State after enjoying a banner year in 2011. He has sired 8 stakes winners, 4 juvenile stakes winners and has $809,385 in juvenile earnings to date – all tops among Florida sires.

“We are excited about Repent's homecoming at CloverLeaf and believe he will be a leading sire in Florida for many years to come,” said John Sykes, owner of CloverLeaf Farms II. “It is absolutely vital to note that all of his success at stud up to this point has come from Florida mares, including his leading 2011 crop of 2-year-olds that are sure to be exciting 3-year-olds next year. So we feel that Repent is returning at the right time and will offer Florida breeders great value in 2012.”

Repent's 4 juvenile stakes winners also ranks him at the top in North America in 2011, tied with such leading sires as Speightstown and Kitten's Joy. From his five crops to race thus far, Crown of Thorns has been Repent's most accomplished runner on the racetrack, earning $821,693 with multiple graded-stakes victories including a stakes-record performance in the Robert Lewis S. (G2) as a 3-year-old. Crown of Thorns won the Mervyn LeRoy H. (G2) in 2011 before recently retiring to stud at CloverLeaf.

“It's a unique thing to stand a good sire and his best son, and in this case you have two nice horses that very much stand on their own individual merit,” said Sykes. “We would like to invite Florida breeders to come out and see them both at the CloverLeaf Stallion Show on January 14th from 2 pm to 4 pm.”

Repent, a four-time graded stakes winner himself on the track, will stand in 2012 for a fee of $3,000 stands and nurses. Crown of Thorns is set to stand for $4,000 stands and nurses.
